Before Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin was released, we knew it would be getting a Season Pass complete with three major DLC expansions and the first of those has just been announced: Trials of the Dragon King. Both the DLC and the aforementioned Season Pass will be available next month, but the trailer took an unusual approach to draw in players.
What we know about Trials of the Dragon King
Details on Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin Trials of the Dragon King are few and far between at the moment. Square Enix has said the DLC will include new jobs, weapons, accessories, and a category of equipment for players to use as they work their way through new areas, stories, and challenges from Bahamut. There are the briefest of glimpses at gameplay in the teaser trailer above, which also confirms the DLC’s release date of July 20. In a fairly hilarious booboo, those who tried to view the trailer on the game’s website not long after it went live would have been treated to a Rickroll instead. Yes, really. Unfortunately, the bug has now been fixed.

Trials of the Dragon King is the first of three DLC expansions included in the game’s Season Pass. The other two will be called Wanderer of the Rift and Different Future, although there are no details on either right now. However, Square Enix has already said players will need to purchase the Season Pass if they wish to play the DLC as none of the expansions will be available separately. The Season Pass will also become available on July 20 to purchase from the PlayStation Store, although those who own the Digital Deluxe Edition will also own the Season Pass already.
In other news, SEGA is planning to bring some of Atlus’ games to TV or movie screens, starting with titles like Persona. Elsewhere, players can now sign up for the Skate 4 playtest.
