PSN Down

The PSN servers are down around the globe on July 19 with players being hit by a mixture of issues. According to the PlayStation Network status page, account management issues are affecting players’ ability to sign in to accounts, create new accounts, or edit the details of existing accounts. In the gaming and social category, players might have difficulty launching games, apps, or network features. Finally, in the PlayStation Store, there are issues with downloading, browsing, and purchasing products from the store on PS5 and PS4 consoles.

It’s worth mentioning that these issues seem to be intermittent and are affecting players in different ways. I have been able to log in to the PlayStation Network and browse the PlayStation Store, but I can’t launch any games as it can’t connect to cloud storage. Meanwhile, a colleague has been able to get into a multiplayer lobby but did face login issues beforehand. Sony has yet to find a solution for the problem but says “we’re working to resolve the issue as soon as possible. Thank you for your patience.”

In other news, Doom creator John Romero is making a first-person shooter in collaboration with a major publisher. Elsewhere, Sony is currently being sued over a crashing defect that was perceived to be in the PS5 console at launch.
