Alone in the Dark PS5 reboot has leaked ahead of THQ Nordic’s event today. We were expecting the game to make an appearance today following a tease by known insider The Snitch, but it happened to be a Belgian retailer who pulled the trigger prematurely and published a listing for the game’s PS5 version on its website. Apparently, Alone in the Dark is based on the first game in the series, and is a psychological horror experience set in the 1920s. The game’s southern U.S. gothic horror setting is inspired by Lovecraft.
Alone in the Dark PS5 features two protagonists
Players can step into the shoes of either Edward Carnby or Emily Hartwood to solve the mystery of the latter’s uncle disappearing. Carnby is a detective who works with Hartwood to locate the missing uncle in the mansion of Derceto, which happens to be a psychiatric asylum. Something lurks in the darkness there, of course, and players must figure out what’s going on.
Alone in the Dark is written by Mikael Hedberg, author of SOMA and Amnesia. An official overview reads:
This love letter to the cult game of the 90s will make you live a story as sinister as memorable through the eyes of one of the two protagonists. As Edward Carnby or Emily Hartwood, explore the various environments, fight monsters, solve puzzles and discover the terrible truth about Derceto’s mansion. You will meet strange occupiers, nightmarish kingdoms, dangerous monsters, and lift the veil on an evil conspiracy.
