A now-deleted tweet leaked an image purportedly from the rumored Assassin’s Creed Mirage, which appears to show a pre-order bonus mission called The Forty Thieves Quest. The image was mined from Ubisoft’s own online store by fan site The Codex Network, which has since removed the tweet but the internet saved copies of the artwork.

For those who might not be aware, Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves is a folk tale from One Thousand and One Nights – a collection of Middle-eastern folk tales. It does seem fitting for the Baghdad-set Mirage, which features Assassin’s Creed Valhalla’s Basim Ibn Ishaq during his youth, if a separately leak from yesterday is correct. Interestingly, the said leak also mentioned something about Basim being a thief before becoming an assassins so the images above, which appear pretty legit, somewhat corroborate the most recent report.
This is just a story about 40 thieves, and it focuses on Ali Baba and mentions Kahramana, a story taken from One Thousand and One Nights.

It’s unclear why the fan site deleted its tweet as it doesn’t look like Ubisoft is issuing copyright strikes (yet) but it’s presumably avoiding trouble. That said, leaks are pretty much a part and parcel of every Assassin’s Creed (and Ubisoft) game at this point.
Ubisoft has yet to announce Assassin’s Creed Mirage but the game has reportedly been delayed internally from 2022 to Spring 2023. There’s a chance it’ll make an appearance at Ubisoft’s event on September 10th. We’ll keep our readers posted.
In other news, Sony is notably absent from yet another video game industry event: the Tokyo Game Show 2022, and Heavy Rain/Detroit: Become Human developer Quantic Dream has been acquired by NetEase.
