The Last of Us Part 1 players have found what they believe is a teaser for a new Naughty Dog game, which is long rumored to be a fantasy title. The studio has made no secret of the fact that it’s creating a new IP, with Neil Druckmann confirming his involvement. Fortunately, the project hasn’t become a victim of leaks like recent Naughty Dog games so all we have to go by are clues that fans have put together.

In January 2021, a Naughty Dog concept artist published images on ArtStation that gave birth to speculations that the studio is working on a fantasy-themed IP. The artist, Hyoung Nam, quickly dismissed those rumors and said that he was merely inspired by Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. Now, the images above have raked up those speculations again because they do look like they’re of a fantasy nature.
“Inspire from new game,” Nam wrote on his ArtStation. We do wonder why he didn’t simply state that he was inspired by Assassin’s Creed Valhalla rather than just some “new game.” Hmm…
If true, this wouldn’t be the first time Naughty Dog hid teasers for its next IP in a game. In 2011, the developer added an easter egg for The Last of Us in Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception. It didn’t entirely go unnoticed but it wasn’t until later that fans picked up on what the easter egg was referring to. We’re all just a little smarter this time.
In other news, The Division Heartland’s details were leaked and confirmed by Ubisoft ahead of its September 10 event, and here’s a God of War Ragnarok x Rick and Morty crossover you didn’t expect.
