Multiple changes and upgrades will be coming to Call of Duty Warzone 2.0 when it arrives on PS5 and PS4 on November 16, and triple circle collapse will be one of them. As the name suggests, competitors in CoD’s battle royale spin-off will need to pay attention to multiple circles of safety during a match to stay alive.
Warzone 2.0 Gulag, item search, and triple circle collapse explained
As revealed in a new PlayStation blog, the new circle collapse mechanic will force players to be in constant motion across the map. Occasionally, a single circle of safety will split into three distinct circles, effectively dividing the playing field into three zones. If luck is on your side, you’ll be in a circle with fewer enemies and more places to collect loot. Those who survive in each of these areas will then be pitted against each other when the three circles collapses back into one, in a final battle to determine the winner.
Locating items throughout the new Al Mazrah map will also be done more “realistically.” For instance, medicinal items like stims and medical syringes will be found in medicine cabinets, while weapons and gear will be stored in bases and armories. It’s unclear, though, if you’ll find random drops spread throughout the map too. The intention here is to have players make specific routes to specific locations with items they want to stock up on.
Escaping Gulags in Warzone 2.0 will have you choose between fighting a team with a potential rival player or going at it alone. If you’re able to defeat an AI combatant known simply as “The Jailer,” you’ll be able to recover a key that will open the door to freedom. But it may be easier and faster to work with another player instead, though that person may become a more dangerous rival later down the line.
In other news, the Modern Warfare 2 beta update has brought back Ground War, and Respawn has issued a statement addressing continued harassment from Apex Legends players.
