A Cyberpunk 2077 sequel and a bunch of new The Witcher games have been confirmed by CD Projekt Red, with the developer listing the as-yet-unrevealed games as part of its long-term product outlook.
Cyberpunk 2077 sequel announced following huge Edgerunners comeback
CDPR announced the upcoming Cyberpunk 2077 sequel, which has been given the codename Project Orion, alongside new games in The Witcher series and a brand new IP. The sequel will follow the upcoming Phantom Liberty expansion.
It’s unclear exactly what the Cyberpunk 2077 sequel will entail, but this announcement comes at a great time for the fledgling game franchise. Following the release of the Netflix anime series Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, the hugely controversial RPG has seen a massive influx of new players, with many impressed by the updates CDPR has put out for the title that have significantly improved its quality.
According to the product outlook, Cyberpunk 2077 will be a “fully-fledged sequel” to the original game, meaning that it won’t be a spin-off set in the same world or another expansion similar to Phantom Liberty.
The CD Projekt Group Strategy Update presentation also contained a bunch of other new information, including a new The Witcher game from developer The Molasses Flood that will contain multiplayer, and a new single-player open-world Witcher RPG not affiliated with its already-announced new trilogy.
