Kevin Choteau, director of Asobo Studio, has opened up the possibility of A Plague Tale Requiem sequel or follow-up in a recent PlayStation blog. While the developer is more than ready to end the series now, they are looking at fan reactions carefully to see if it’s worth continuing Alicia and Hugo’s journey.
A Plague Tale Requiem is tentatively the end of the series (for now)
In an interview with PlayStation, Choteau expressed where Asobo Studio stands with the franchise at the moment:
I think, for now, it’s the end. But the door is never closed, and we’ll see the player reception. We want to see their reaction before deciding anything. They are driving our production, and if they don’t like what we’ve done, we need to do something else.
In addition to player reception, Asobo Studio will likely be taking a close look at the ratings for the upcoming A Plague Tale TV series. Not much information on the adaptation has been revealed since March, but Matheiu Turi, an assistant director for Inglourious Basterds, will be a part of the project.
The small 70-person studio based in France previously worked on Ubisoft’s The Crew before changing directions after their hit with A Plague Tale Innocence, and apart from Microsoft Flight Simulator, it has focused the majority of its attention on A Plague Tale series. At the time of this writing, A Plague Tale Requiem on PS5 has a high Metacritic score of 83.
