Konami opened their Silent Hill Transmission show with a trailer for the much-rumored Silent Hill 2 Remake. Being developed at Bloober Team, the Silent Hill 2 Remake has been confirmed to be a console exclusive for PS5 for a limited time of 12 months before we assume it will then be released on Xbox. The game will also be released on PC.
What we know about the Silent Hill 2 Remake
The Silent Hill 2 Remake has been in progress for three years already. Despite receiving proposals from teams around the world to revive the game, Konami chose Bloober Team as they were the “most passionate” and “you can see the love they have for the game”. Bloober Team is working closely with the game’s original creators, such as Masahiro Ito, to keep the original spirit from Silent Hill 2, although some aspects will be modernized to fit in with the current state of gaming. There is now an over-the-shoulder camera to “immerse players into the game world as much as possible” and there has been new motion capture for the characters.
The game will come with a new musical style composed by Akira Yamaoka, the game’s original composer, although he promises that the sound design and music will please the game’s existing fans 21 years after the release of the original game. The Playstation Store page is due to go live later today for the Silent Hill 2 Remake PS5 limited exclusive, although it’s unclear whether pre-orders will open at the same time.
