A “low” God of War Ragnarok review score has brought gaming trolls out of the woodworks again. IGN Korea contributor Bae Sang Hyun awarded the game its only 6/10 score based on his experience with the game and legitimate criticisms thereof, some of which got lost in translation when IGN’s editorial department attempted to translate his review snippet into English for OpenCritic. None of that matters, however, since there is virtually no excuse to harass a reviewer for not awarding a score of the community’s choosing.
God of War Ragnarok review scores show unanimous praise
God of War Ragnarok has received universal critical acclaim so Bae Sang Hyun’s score might be an outlier but his criticisms are still valid. In a Twitter thread, he released a lengthy statement on the matter, and addressed absurd accusations of being “an Xbox fanboy” as well as a barrage of insulting messages laced with death threats and profanity.
I just commented on a YouTube video about the GoW Ragnarok review I wrote for IGN Korea. I hope it will help you understand my opinion and position. And, I sincerely hope everyone can spend November 9 as their best day of this year.https://t.co/uXBwoktov6#GodofWarRagnarok pic.twitter.com/K9COIWHGwG

While it’s true that there are trolls who seize moments like these to prompt derision for any given game’s community, some of the replies Bae Sang Hyun’s thread received make it evident that there are people who are legitimately upset about his score. Shameful.
