A God of War Ragnarok easter egg has pretty much confirmed that Kratos’s time in the crossover fighting game PlayStation All-Stars is actually canon. In the game, Mimir says that he heard that Kratos had fought in tournaments back in his homeland, including one that references the characters in PlayStation All-Stars. Kratos only scoffs at the implication, asking that Mimir “not speak of this” ever again.
Kratos wants to forget fighting Big Daddy and PaRappa
As shown in a short clip posted above (from YouTube user PerfectParadox), Kratos admits to fighting in many contests, but Mimir specifically asks about an unusual tournament that he was in:
But this particular one… I heard you did battle with beasts, scoundrels, princesses, the undead, and automatons, and… history’s greatest musician. That’s not… that’s not true, is it?
Looking at the full character roster for PlayStation All-Stars: Battle Royale released all the way back in November 2012 (just in time for the game’s 10th anniversary!), it looks like Mimir is describing Sly Cooper and Toro Inoue as “beasts,” Sweet Tooth and Evil Cole McGrath (and likely many others) as “scoundrels,” and Sir Daniel Fortesque as the “undead.” The Big Daddy is most likely the “automaton,” while “history’s greatest musician” is probably PaRappa. Either way, Kratos wants Mimir to forget all that and doesn’t care to remember his time in the game at all.
Other God of War Ragnarok easter eggs include books from Horizon, Death Stranding, and The Last of Us. The musical Japanese trailer for the game is also fairly bizarre.
