God of War Ragnarok sales have achieved another milestone. Despite releasing at the tail end of 2022, the game managed to become one of the top five best-selling games in the United States, according to NPD. This is a pretty impressive feat achieved in just two months by a console exclusive.
God of War Ragnarok sales previously broke PlayStation records
Sony previously revealed that God of War Ragnarok not only sold 5.1 million copies within its launch week, it is also the fastest-selling first-party launch in PlayStation’s history! Unfortunately, NPD doesn’t provide data but rest assured, we’ll hear the exact sales numbers from Sony in due course.
NPD’s sales charts include physical and digital sales both. The top ten games of 2022 (U.S. only) are as follows:
- Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2
- Elden Ring
- Madden NFL 23
- God of War Ragnarok
- LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga
- Pokemon: Scarlet/Violet
- FIFA 23
- Pokemon Legends: Arceus
- Horizon Forbidden West
- MLB: The Show 22
God of War Ragnarok was also the third best-selling title in the U.S. during the holiday month of December.
Horizon Forbidden West is another noteworthy appearance in the top charts. The game’s release was overshadowed by the multiplatform, award-winning Elden Ring. Though it didn’t match the success of God of War Ragnarok, it seems to have done well.
