Lego Batman 4 is reportedly in the works at TT Games, while a project codenamed ‘Lego Disney’ has apparently been cancelled, according to a game designer who worked on past LEGO games. More specifically, Stephen Sharples, the former Game Director at TT Games, has pointed to a leak by a recent comment that apparently has some validity despite being made on an older Fanbyte article.
‘Lego Disney’ was apparently scrapped due to Disney Dreamlight Valley success
The comment on Fanbyte apparently provides an in-depth update on what TT Games is developing, which is supported by Sharples in a tweet:
Lego Disney is in the trash, cancelled last year. Mainly because it was a s*** show, but partially because Dreamlight Valley did a lot of the things it was trying to do, better. It’s now Mandalorian DLC for LSWTSW, and another LEGO Batman game because I’m sure there’s someone out there that isn’t utterly sick of Batman by now.
The comment continues, saying that TT Games has “quietly cancelled” four additional projects internally. Even so, it seems that the developer has its hands full with a new Lego Batman game (ostensibly, Lego Batman 4) and Mandalorian DLC for Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga.
According to Sharples in another tweet, leaks are a common occurrence at TT Games, as experienced during his tenure at the studio.
Lego Batman 3 was released in 2014 for PS4, so this would seems to be a good time for a revival, despite what the comment says. In fact, it could be LEGO Star Wars that fans might be tired of, with some wanting the LEGO series to go somewhere else.
