San Diego Studio has revealed that MLB The Show 23 will feature a new Storylines mode whose first season will highlight the Negro Leagues. Working alongside the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum (NLBM), this mode will delve into the history of eight Negro League players including Hank Thompson and Jackie Robinson, all narrated by NLBM President Bob Kendrick. Pre-orders for the game are available today at various storefronts today like the PS Store.

In a PlayStation blog, San Diego Studio and publisher Sony Interactive Entertainment hope to shine a light on this part of American baseball history with legends who “are not nearly as well-known as other baseball players of the era.”
For its first season, the new Storylines mode will focus on eight iconic figures: Hank Thompson, Buck O’Neil, Jackie Robinson, John Donaldson, Leroy “Satchel” Paige, Andrew “Rube” Foster, Martin Dihigo, and Hilton Smith.
The developer hopes to have a new season of Storylines mode with every new MLB The Show game and has announced a multiyear partnership with the NLBM for this effort.
Pre-orders for MLB The Show 23 are available today, with the game releasing on March 27 and costing $69.99 for the standard edition on PS5 (it’s $59.99 on PS4) or $99.99 for the Digital Deluxe Edition and The Captain Edition. Both of these special editions will give you 4-day early access and plenty of perks.
San Diego Studio will also donate $1 to the NLBM for every MLB The Show 23 Collector’s Edition (which includes the the Digital Deluxe and The Captain Edition) sold in the US starting today until the end of 2023.
