Final Fantasy 16 Easy Mode Is Activated By ‘Timely’ Accessories

A Final Fantasy 16 easy mode has been revealed through the use of several ‘Timely’ accessories in the latest PlayStation State of Play showcasing 20 minutes of FFXVI gameplay on PS5. From what was seen, there are five ‘Timely’ items that players can equip to make the game easier, particularly for those who are not used to action games or just for people who want to make their experience easier.

The FFXVI-focused State of Play showed off five ‘Timely’ accessory rings with the following benefits:

  • Ring of Timely Evasion – When equipped, Clive will automatically evade attacks, as long as the attack can be evaded
  • Ring of Timely Focus – When equipped, time slows before an evadable enemy attack strikes Clive. No effect when equipped with the ring of timely evasion.
  • Ring of Timely Strikes – When equipped, complex ability combinations can be executed by simply pressing the square button.
  • Ring of Timely Assistance
  • Ring of Timely Healing

It’s unclear what the Ring of Timely Assistance and Ring of Timely Healing does, though if I had to speculate, it would maybe help with assistance with companion character and healing when Clive is at low HP. These Timely accessories are automatically equipped if players choose the “Story Focused” option at the beginning of a new game.

These rings doesn’t seem to have any clear downsides, like reduced experience, though they do take up one of the three accessory slots. That said, something like the Ring of Timely Evasion is so powerful that another accessory might not come along for a long time in the game that will replace it. There’s also a restriction between the Ring of Timely Evasion and Ring of Timely Focus, so that the latter ring has no effect if both are equipped.

Perhaps there will be a Trophy of some kind that will challenge players not to use these Timely accessories at all.
