PS5 Pro GPU Reportedly Capable of 36 Teraflops of Performance

A new report claims that the PS5 Pro GPU is capable of delivering up to 36 teraflops of performance with 2.35 GHz max boost clock. Word comes from the trusty folks over at Digital Foundry, who claim to have seen new information in documents Sony provided to developers.

What we know about the PS5 Pro GPU so far

As originally reported, the PS5 Pro packs a powerful GPU that’s capable of rendering a whopping 45% faster than the base PS5, with 33.5 teraflops compared to the original’s 10.23 teraflops. According to Digital Foundry, the PS5 Pro can actually boost as high as 2.35 GHz, delivering a “theoretical maximum” of 36.1 teraflops.

The caveat, however, is that there is a power ceiling in place akin to the base PS5. Digital Foundry reckons that not only will it be rare to see the GPU working at the aforementioned maximum capacity, only certain games will be able to boost to that level.

Elsewhere, Digital Foundry revealed that the PS5 Pro will support full mesh shading, variable rate shading, and hybrid Multi-Sample Anti-Aliasing (MSAA) with extra features.

Sony has yet to announce the PS5 Pro. All eyes are on the rumored PlayStation Showcase that’s supposedly happening this month.
