PS5 Pro reveal

PS5 Pro Is Compatible With Current Accessories

With PS5 Pro bringing new improvements to Sony’s current console generation, one may wonder what current accessories are compatible with the enhanced console? PlayStation players will be pleased to hear most current PS5 accessories are compatible with the upcoming refresh.

What accessories are compatible with PS5 Pro?

According to the PlayStation Blog, the PS5 Pro is compatible with the currently available accessories. So, players won’t have to buy all new controllers or headsets for the upcoming console. Here is the full list of accessories as mentioned on the blog post:

  • DualSense Wireless Controller
  • PlayStation VR2
  • PlayStation Portal
  • DualSense Edge
  • Access Controller
  • Pulse Elite
  • Pulse Explorer
  • Disc Drive

Although it isn’t implicitly listed, it may be safe to assume the current PS5 vertical stand will be PS5 Pro compatible. Additionally, the only accessories PS5 players can’t use with the upgraded console are console covers. That is to be expected considering its measurements differ from both the launch and slim consoles. The PS5 Pro is the same height as the launch model, but the width of the slim.

PS5 Pro features three big improvements from its predecessor. Its upgraded GPU, advanced ray tracing capabilities, and AI driven upscaling using PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR) brings higher fidelity graphics at no cost to performance. Console architect Mark Cerny did a deep dive for the upcoming console during the PlayStation Technical Presentation.

The PS5 Pro launches on November 7, 2024, at a MSRP of $699.99 USD, £699.99 GBP, €799.99 EUR, and ¥119,980 JPY. It includes a 2 TB SSD, DualSense wireless controller, and a copy of Astro’s Playroom preinstalled. Preorders begin September 26, 2024 on PlayStation Direct and at participating retailers.

The high price point has left much to be desired with the gaming community. After the PS5 Pro presentation, many gamers took to social media to discuss their disappointment with the price tag.
