New Batman Game Might Be PlayStation Exclusive, Leaker Hints

A new Batman game from Rocksteady is reportedly in the works. According to Xbox Era’s Nick “Shpeshal Nick” Baker, Sony might be trying to secure some form of exclusivity for the game.

Rocksteady is reportedly making a new Batman game

In a recent tweet from The Game Awards, it asked people to name their dream developer for a new Batman game. While the original post is supposed to be theoretical, Xbox Era co-founder Nick “Shpeshal Nick” Baker revealed new information regarding the Caped Crusader’s next adventure.

“Not sure which studio people’s dream is, but I heard Rocksteady are back making it,” says Baker. “I also think Sony are trying to moneyhat it.”

Like any leak, it should be taken with a grain of salt. There is no confirmation that a new Batman game is in the works. Baker’s record with leaks isn’t perfect, but has been accurate at times. This includes information about the Ghost of Tsushima PC port that released earlier this year.

If Rocksteady returns to make a new Batman game, this supposed entry would be their fifth starring the popular DC character. The developer recently released Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, which is set in the Arkham universe they established. However, the game did not perform as expected, contributing to a significant drop to WB Games’ revenue year-on-year in Q2 2024.

WB Games’ poor financial performance has led to Warner Bros. Discovery to look into licensing its popular IP to other studios.

“There’s also a lot of interest among others in coming to take advantage of some of that IP for gaming, which we’re looking at,” Zaslav said. “We need to get bigger, and the IP that we own and the value that it has in the gaming space is something we’re looking to take advantage of.”

The next Batman game releasing is Batman: Arkham Shadow, and is set between Batman: Arkham Origins and Batman: Arkham Asylum. The VR game launches this October for the Meta Quest 3.
