Monster Hunter Wilds Open Beta Sets Dates, PS Plus Gets Early Access

Capcom announced the Monster Hunter Wilds Open Beta Test dates, allowing players to check out the latest entry in the popular action RPG series. PlayStation Plus subscribers receive early access to the beta, which gives some PS5 players the opportunity to check it out before everyone else.

When does the Monster Hunter Wilds Open Beta Test begin?

For PlayStation Plus subscribers, early access for the Monster Hunter Wilds Open Beta Test begin on Monday, October 28, 2024, at 8 p.m. PT./ 11 p.m. ET until Wednesday, October 30, 2024, at 7:59 p.m. PT / 10:59 p.m. ET. Everyone will then receive access starting October 31, 2024, at 8 p.m. PT/ 11 p.m. ET until Sunday, November 3, 2024, at 6:59 p.m. PT/ 9:59 p.m. ET. It will require a minimum of 18 GB of free space on PS5 to download and play.

A new trailer for Monster Hunter Wilds was also revealed, showcasing the new Oilwell Basin area, as well as the new monsters that skulk around the locale. Check it out below.

During the Monster Hunter Wilds Open Beta Test, players will have the chance to experience three key pieces of content: Character Creation, the Story Trial, and the Doshaguma Hunt.

The Character Creation menu allows players to create their hunters, from their physique to their facial features. Characters created during the beta period can be carried over to the full release. However, progress made with that character will not. Additionally, the Character Creation tool can be used endlessly during the period, giving players as much time they need to create their perfect hunter and Palico.

The Story Trial features the opening of the game up until they defeat the Chatacabra, which includes the basic tutorial for newcomers. The Doshaguma Hunt will task players with tracking and defeating the Doshaguma. Both quests can be completed in online multiplayer, or single player alongside three NPC hunters.

Anyone participating in the Monster Hunter Wilds Open Beta Test will receive a special Pendant and item pack to decorate their weapons and Seikret when the game releases.

The test period will also give those who play a chance to check out the special DualSense controller features for Monster Hunter Wilds. This includes utilizing the controller’s integrated speaker, motion sensor, and adaptive triggers. The game will also support Tempest 3D audio.

Monster Hunter Wilds launches for PS5 on February 28, 2025.
