PS5 Pro Gets Another Game With 8K Support

The list of PS5 Pro enhanced games continues to grow with The Callisto Protocol. But this one is unique, as it is one of only a handful of games that supports 8K resolution.

The Callisto Protocol gets PS5 Pro update

Striking Distance Studios and Krafton announced recently announced the dedicated PS5 Pro update. It allows players to experience the infested Black Iron Prison in 4K resolution at 60 frames per second, or 8K at 30 FPS. Both new graphics modes also features full ray-tracing. Check out the video below from the official The Callisto Protocol’s X (formerly Twitter) account showcasing the new update.

It should be noted that The Callisto Protocol players will need the proper displays to really experience these graphics modes. 8K displays aren’t too common, but for those who do own one can now enjoy the horror game at the incredibly high resolution.

This is one of four games that support 8K resolution for PS5 Pro. Currently, the aforementioned The Callisto Protocol, as well as No Man’s Sky and F1 24 all support 8K right now. The fourth is Gran Turismo 7, but the PS5 Pro enhanced update has not yet released.

PS5 Pro launched with over 50 games receiving updates specific to the console. These updates utilized the hardware’s larger GPU, advanced ray-tracing capabilities, and PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution technology (PSSR). There are over 80 games confirmed to receive enhancements.

These enhancements seem to be a better selling point than people initially thought. Despite its high price point, the new console seems to be selling well. Japan sales saw over 78,000 units sold, which actually exceeds the launch sales of the PS4 Pro. Although sales are decent, it is still readily available to purchase at most retailers. However, scalpers expected a bigger turnout for the console. Due to its availability, scalpers have sold the console at a loss.
