It’s increasingly looking like Sony is no longer vetting submissions for new PS Store games as it’s now allowing more shovelware than ever before. A week after we reported on a PS Store entry for something called “Grand Taking Ages VI” that somehow flew under Sony’s radar, a new game has cropped up with a character that looks an awful lot like The Last of Us‘ Joel.
Sony’s handling of PS Store games seems to be encouraging more shovelware
Spotted by a Reddit user, the screenshot above is taken from the PS Store page of Forest Ranger Life Simulator, which has simply been “announced” like the fake GTA VI game and dozens of other new entries, majority of which look like they’re joke submissions.
Forest Ranger Life Simulator’s developer is “Grizzly Games Limited,” which has very little web presence anywhere other than Sony’s store. A large number of its games are in “announced” state, including Criminal Simulator and Drug Trader Simulator. The one game it did release is just what you expected, if its rating is any indication.
Sony removed Grand Taking Ages VI’s PS Store page as soon as it made headlines, but the point remains that these submissions continue to slip through whatever checks Sony has in place, if any at all. Much like the fake GTA VI, Forest Ranger Life Simulator is unlikely to see the light of day, but apparently the team responsible for the PS Store didn’t notice what players call “Dollar Store Joel” slipping in.
We’ve come to expect shovelware from the PS Store, but this situation is worse because these aren’t actual games. At least we can play shovelware and pop some embarrassing trophies…
