Sega Japan has announced that players of its smash hit PSP game Phantasy Star Portable 2: Infinity and still-kicking (at least in Japan) PS2/PC title Phantasy Star Universe will be able to participate in an event called “Phantasy Star Illuminous: Maximum Attack Infinity.”
From April 25 till May 23, anyone playing either of the two offline/online hybrid RPGs can join in via network play, receiving a shiny new weapon as a gift. Possible weapons are from a pool of four, though it’s not quite clear if the player gets to choose the weapon or if it’s randomized. As standard with most online RPG special events, highlights will include plenty of rare drops and an increase EXP rate, though it doesn’t look like anyone’s attack is being maxed out.
Here are some screenshots of the special action:
The cooperative action RPG Phantasy Star Portable 2 for PSP is out now in North America, though the Infinity version is currently available in Japan only, and will likely stay that way. Online servers of Phantasy Star Universe for PC and PS2 were shut down in North America, though the game maintains a following in Japan.
