A lot of people were eager to hear news about the PlayStation Vita at this year’s gamescom. Of course, Jim Ryan took the stage to talk about new features that will be coming to the PSV.
While on stage, images flashed up on the screen behind Ryan for Skype and foursquare on the PSV. Later, Facebook and Twitter were revealed for the device. Users will be able to download the applications for free. Ryan did not announce when these features will launch on the PSV, but presumably they will launch with the device. For those of you unfamiliar with the service, foursquare is a location-based social networking website based on hardware for mobile devices. The service is available to users with GPS-enabled mobile devices such as smartphones. Users “check-in” at venues using a mobile website, text messaging or a device-specific application by running the application and selecting from a list of venues that the application locates nearby.
