The Assassin’s Creed franchise has a very unique story line, being that the game world you play in isn’t actually taking place at the same time as your main character. Ubisoft Director Alex Amancio has shared some details about how Assassin’s Creed: Revelations, the end of Ezio’s trilogy, will bring closure to his story, while leaving the door open for Assassin’s Creed 3.
Speaking in regards to fan feedback, Amanco told Destructoid:
We actually found, I forget where it is on the web, somebody did a ‘Top Ten Things Fans Want to Know About Assassin’s Creed’. And in that top ten list, we actually answer seven.
Amanco also stated that Revelations will reveal the lineage of protagonists Desmond, Ezio, and Altaïr:
People are going to go ‘Oh, okay, I get it!’ or ‘I never thought they were going to show me that!’ and it really sets you up for what’s to come. Keep in mind we’re following the typical trilogy structure. So of course, everything can’t be answered. But at the same time, we want to avoid what I like to fall the X-Files effect, where you risk crumbling under the weight of your own mythology, so a lot of doors have been left open.
The Assassin’s Creed franchise is one of Ubisoft’s most successful new intellectual properties of this generation, it will be interesting to see where they take the mythology next. Assassin’s Creed: Revelations is launching on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 this November.
