New tables are coming to The Pinball Arcade (PS3 & PS Vita) as downloadable content.
On the PS Blog, FarSight Studios Lead Designer Bobby King announced that four tables will be coming to The Pinball Arcade on both the PS3 and PS Vita platforms as two DLC packs (two tables per pack). All four tables have historic significance in the world of pinball for both their craftsmanship and design. The packs will release on both PS3 & PS Vita this August.
Add-On Pack 3 consists of the 1998 Monster Bash pinball table (which features iconic Universal Studios monsters) and Gorgar, a classic 1979-era table designed by Barry Oursier (who is credited with tables such as Pin·Bot, Cyclone, Comet, Space Shuttle, and Jungle Lord). Gorgar was the first “talking” pinball machine. The pack will be priced at $4.99.
Add-On Pack 4 consists of the Creature from the Black Lagoon table (which was designed by the legendary John Trudeau and showed victorious players the world’s first pinball hologram) and Black Knight. Black Knight was the first ever to introduce a split-level playfield, with three ramps leading to and from the upper playfield. The table also introduced the Magna-Save: a magnet that allowed users to push a button which saves a ball from draining down the outlane. The game also introduced the Bonus Ball, a multiplayer feature that granted the player with the highest score a few additional seconds of free play. No price is mentioned for the game.
Both packs will support Trophies and King said that FarSight is looking into whether or not they can add Trophy support to existing DLC. Speaking of existing DLC, King also provided a link for those having issues with the PS3 version of the game after a PSN update or are encountering issues downloading the game’s existing DLC packs.
Also, King revealed that Pin·Bot is on FarSight’s table schedule for the game.
