Despite the lack of announcements regarding Sony’s support for 3D, the chief executive of PlayStation Europe says the firm will continue to support the technology, stating that when integrating 3D compatibility into titles “makes sense, 3D technology will be included into our games”.
Jim Ryan told CVG that one shouldn’t read too much into the lack of 3D announcements during Sony’s gamescom presser:
I wouldn’t read too much into its omission. We spoke about it at E3 two years ago and everyone put their glasses on for the first time, and the next year we did the same and everyone did it again. Y’know, there comes a time when you don’t need to talk about it any more.
Don’t read into the fact too much that we haven’t announced anything about 3D.
Although Sony had invested heavily into 3D technology for its PlayStation division, it hasn’t quite paid off due to the slow adoption rate of 3DTVs in homes.
