As if there was going to be any other outcome, the NPD is reporting that retail sales in the US were down 19% compared to last year, finishing at $443 million. This saw hardware drop 34% to $99.4 million, with software going down 20% to $222.3 million.
Looking at specific software, NCAA Football 14 was the #1 selling game of the month, but was actually “slightly down” when compared to NCAA Football 13. Elsewhere, in Grand Theft Auto V anticipation news, if the games were ranked based on an SKU basis, Shin Megami Tensei IV on 3DS, Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon on 3DS, and Grand Theft Auto IV: Complete Edition on Xbox 360 would have all made the top 10.
Since the NPD combines numbers for all systems, here’s you actual top 10, with The Last of Us faring well at #3:
*Includes collector’s editions, GOTY editions, bundles, etc, but not those bundled with hardware.
