We reported yesterday that Ni No Kuni co-developer, Studio Ghibli, was undergoing restructuring and was downsizing its staff due to poor profits. The popular consensus on the internet was that Disney should buy the company, but according to latest reports, it looks like the studio is set to be purchased by Japanese online entertainment company, Dwango.
According to Japanese news site ZakZak, Dwango will also take over the studio’s workforce and copyright business. Dwango owns game developer Spike Chunsoft and runs a video site Nico Nico Douga. It has worked with Studio Ghibli previously and was set to collaborate again for an upcoming anime.
No official announcement has been made yet, but if this deal is to go ahead, we hope that its in the best interest of both parties. We’ll update our readers when we hear something.
