Update:
Deep Silver said in a statement to GameSpot, “There are limitations where you are unable to have multiple multiplayer experiences on the same disc, unfortunately we can’t comment further.”
Original Story:
Responding to a question on Twitter about whether the Dead Island Definitive Collection includes Dead Island Definitive Edition and Dead Island: Riptide Definitive Edition on separate discs, the Dead Island account revealed that PlayStation 4 owners will need to download Riptide, as it isn’t included on-disc:
On XB1 it is on the same disc. PS4 discs don’t support multiple games, so there Riptide comes as a download code.
When other users pointed out that games like Metro Redux (also from Deep Silver), Borderlands: The Handsome Collection, and Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection all include multiple games on one disc, the Twitter accounted added:
We could’ve worded that better. You need a separate menu, you can’t just put two games on disc the same way as on XB1.
So, if you pick up the Dead Island Definitive Collection on May 31 for PS4 at retail, it will include Dead Island Definitive Edition on-disc, a download code for Dead Island: Riptide Definitive Edition, and a download code for Dead Island: Retro Revenge. If you just want the games digitally on their own, the bigger titles will be $20 each, while Retro Revenge will be $5.
