With Gamescom 2017 just a month away, the German Games Industry Association (BIU) is anticipating another record-breaking year for one of the world’s largest gaming events. As reported by MCV, the organizers are expecting over 900 exhibitors, with 70 percent of them being international exhibitors as Africa, Brazil, Romania and the Czech Republic make debut appearances. Overall, the event is expected to grow by approximately 20 percent year-on-year.
BIU managing director Felix Falk said in a statement:
Gamescom 2017 continues its success story: that is made clear by continuing growth, but also by the first opening by Chancellor Angela Merkel and the many announced visits by federal and state politicians. Games are a fascinating entertainment medium and at the same time an economic factor, cultural assets and a promoter of innovation. This is also reflected by Gamescom, which, with its extensive supporting program, is much more than a video games trade fair. At Gamescom, everyone can experience how digitalization and networking are changing our society and economy.
Gamescom 2017 runs from August 22 to 26.
