August 2017 Flash Sale Recommendations

Carnival Games VR
Price: $9.99
Why: It's easy to dismiss Carnival Games VR. After all, the series didn't have a great reputation on the Wii, but it delivers good fun on PlayStation VR. It doesn't provide a ton of depth as it instead opts to provide plenty of light-hearted fun, but sometimes that is exactly what is needed.
-
Dead Rising
Price: $7.99
Why: Due to the original being exclusive to Xbox 360 at the time of release, a lot of PlayStation gamers missed out on Dead Rising. Now they get to fix that wrong by checking out the great Capcom title. There are some rough edges due to age, but it's still a darn good time.
-
Just Cause 3 Expansion Pass
Price: $9.99
Why: Those that got Just Cause 3 for free via PS+ and are enjoying it will want to extend the open-world title by purchasing its Expansion Pass. This features three DLC additions, and at 60% off it's only $9.99.
-
Minecraft: Story Mode - Adventure Pass
Price: $3.99
Why: I'm not the biggest fan of Minecraft: Story Mode (poor Reuben), but the DLC for the game was actually better than the main story. It allows players to get bite-sized stories, and visit a bunch of different Minecraft worlds.
-
Murdered: Soul Suspect
Price: $4.99
Why: Fans of mysteries will get a kick out of Murdered: Soul Suspect. Not only does it have the player trying to figure out who killed them in a Ghost Trick-like story, it features some solid puzzles that are fun to solve.
-
One Way Trip
Price: $4.49
Why: While most visual novels come from Japan, One Way Trip comes from North American indie developer Beret. It features an outlandish plot that has players hallucinating after drinking contaminated water that leaves them mere hours left to live, and some highly memorable characters like Boobs Cowboy. If you're looking for something weird (and I mean weird), then give this one a go.
-
Overcooked: Gourmet Edition
Price: $7.99
Why: One of the best local multiplayer games ever created, Overcooked will provide hours of hilarious fun while players try to work together in order to fulfill food orders. At 60% off, this is a great time to jump into the stellar game.
-
SteamWorld Heist
Price: $5.99
Why: This fantastic turn-based title takes the dice rolls out of combat and actually has players aiming guns in order to do damage. It creates a satisfying risk/reward mechanic where players can attempt difficult shots and actually pull them off if they are good enough. Everything comes down to skill here, and that is so refreshing. SteamWorld Heist is a must-play.
-
Stikbold! A Dodgeball Adventure
Price: $2.99
Why: Stikbold! features a hilarious solo adventure that isn't afraid to poke fun at its ridiculous dodgeball premise, and also features a solid multiplayer mode as well. No matter what type of gamer you are, you'll find enough fun to justify it at 70% off.
-
UNO
Price: $3.99
Why: While it doesn't quite reach the highs of the last-generation UNO game, this Ubisoft product is still a solid time with friends. It's also highly affordable at 60% off.
