There are very few games like Left 4 Dead. From the hordes of zombies to the randomized levels, there’s a lot to enjoy about the multiplayer formula that Valve and Turtle Rock Studios perfected (although sadly the excellent series never came to PlayStation). There are several games that can scratch that same itch, though, and while they might not be exact clones, they should provide some of the same style of enjoyment.
To help give you an idea of what to play after you’ve played enough Left 4 Dead, we’ve come up with a list of cooperative shooter PS4 games like Left 4 Dead 2. These titles all have one aspect or more of what makes Turtle Rock Studios’ title so special!
We hope you enjoyed our look at narrative heavy games like Left 4 Dead. These are only some of the cooperative shooters that the PlayStation 4 has to offer, although many are very different from L4D, so there are plenty of other worthwhile games that didn’t quite make our list! We look forward to reading your recommendations in the comments below!
For even more on Evolve, the latest game from Turtle Rock, check out our review. Here’s what reviewer Paulmichael Contreras had to say:
We’re still in the early days of Evolve. There are still free characters, weapons and abilities to unlock for most of us. While the lack of a real story mode may upset some, most people who purchase this game are doing so for the multiplayer, plain and simple. On that front, Evolve impresses when things go as planned. Get a group together, work as a cohesive unit, and have fun blasting those ugly aliens to hell and back. Or play as a Monster, alone but oh so badass. Evolve has a hint of greatness, but a lack of content at launch and a jarring amount of premium launch and planned DLC hold it back. What we have here is an evolution of the Left 4 Dead formula, not a revolution.

Borderlands: The Handsome Collection
One of the few games on PlayStation 4 with four player splitscreen, Borderlands: The Handsome Collection features plenty of cooperative shooting fun. It's not quite Left 4 Dead in its design, but there's plenty of hordes of enemies to destroy.

Dead Island Definitive Edition
Got an itch to kill some zombies? Well, boy do I have a game for you. Featuring some great analog combat, Dead Island is an entertaining romp with friends. It has some issues, and it's sort of shocking how many bugs are in the PS4 port, but as long as you're playing with friends you'll be able to laugh about them.

Fortnite
Want to fight off waves of enemies? Fortnite has you covered. It also has a really unique building system that adds a layer of tower-defense to the shooting. It's definitely one of the most impressive free-to-play titles on PS4.

Killing Floor 2
If you want some mindless shooting with friends then Killing Floor 2 will fit the bill. It's more about strictly facing off against waves, but there's still enough twitch shooting that Left 4 Dead fans should enjoy.
-
Payday 2
If you're going to be successful in Left 4 Dead then you'll have to work as a team. The same is true in Payday 2, although players are attempting to rob banks rather than make it through zombies.

Evolve
From the developer behind Left 4 Dead, Evolve is a cooperative based shooter that has four players competing against one other user that is controlling a gigantic beast. It never quite caught on like Turtle Rock had hoped, but it's still good fun as long as you can get a group of five together.

Warhammer: The End Times – Vermintide
Easily the most blatant Left 4 Dead clone, Warhammer: The End Times – Vermintide is basically L4D with less polish in a fantasy setting. It doesn't quite hit on all cylinders, but thankfully there's a sequel on the way that'll hopefully improve upon the formula.

Zombie Army Trilogy
Zombie Army Trilogy has players working together in order to kill hundreds of zombies. You even get to kill Hitler in it! While that's definitely cool, some sub-par shooting holds it back from being great.
