Attack on Titan 2 release date - Annie Leonhart

Attack on Titan 2 Japanese Release Date & More Playable Characters Announced

At today’s live stream held by Famitsu,  Koei Tecmo has finally confirmed the actual release date for Attack on Titan 2. This sequel to Attack on Titan: Wings of Freedom will be released in Japan on March 15, 2018. As Koei Tecmo promised a near-simultaneous worldwide release, the release dates in North America and Europe should not be too far away from this date.

Three more new playable characters for the game are announced in this stream, which are Annie Leonhart, Reiner Braun, and Bertolt Hoover. Koei Tecmo also announced that there will be more playable titans as well. In the stream, Koei Tecmo showed a new gameplay footage by using Annie and the Female Titan. If you already read Attack on Titan‘s storyline, you’ll know what else to expect with the other revealed characters.

Other than that, the gameplay footage also showed more of the new features added in Attack on Titan 2, such as capturing titans by shooting nets that will be used to research new items and building supply towers on predetermined places that will let players and allies replenish their inventories. They also showed more interactions in the camp area, where the player-created character will be able to train with other characters to raise their stats or even invite them to go out on a date optional mission.

Early purchase incentives for the game are also announced, which mainly revolve around the characters’ casual clothing. The early purchase bonus will let you unlock Eren & Levi’s casual clothes early, while pre-ordering the digital version will also add Krista & Ymir to the set. With the exception of Levi’s additional Lawson costume which is based on the real store franchise in Japan, all of the casual clothes should be unlockable in the game at a later point.

Attack on Titan 2 will be released on PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and Steam worldwide. A PlayStation Vita version will be available only to Japan, while North America and Europe will exclusively get an Xbox One version instead.
