In a new PlayStation Blog post, Endnight Games’ Anna Terekhova announced the release date for the PlayStation 4 version of The Forest. As people may recall, this is an open world survival horror game that spent the several years in early access on Steam, before finally launching fully on PCs in April 2018. The Forest, which will be playable at PAX West 2018, will launch on the PlayStation 4 on November 6, 2018.
The Forest is a game all about freedom, creativity, and mystery. The story is about a man searching for his son after a plane crash. You’ll have to survive the night in the titular forest, and it’s far from a normal forest. There are monsters and dangerous things there, you know?
The setup here is that The Forest doesn’t tell that player what to do. To make sure the player is able to figure it all out, Endnight’s goal was to make it possible to interact with as much of the world as possible, so players have options that make sense. While that does feed into combat and making weapons, players can also play in “peaceful mode,” which removes the combat threat, leaving the player more room to work on buildings and the basic survival mechanics.
The Forest will also have a four player co-op mode, which could make the game into a totally different kind of experience depending on who you might be playing with.
