The 2010 PAX East convention has been nothing short of spectacular. Being the first true East coast video game event, more than 60,000 eager video gamers swarmed the Hynes Convention Center in Boston for this year’s event. The immense popularity has forced the Penny Arcade, the event organizer, to upgrade to a larger venue for next year’s event.
Speaking with Joystiq, Penny Arcade’s Mike Krahulik said that attendance absolutely shattered the group’s expectations, and in preparation for next year’s event, forced the group to upgrade to the much-bigger Boston Convention Center.
“We had assumed we would be in [the Hynes] for what? Three years, I think? That was our initial idea. And already this will be our only year here. We have to move it next year.”
We here at PlayStation LifeStyle certainly enjoyed the event, as it provided us with our first hands on with PlayStation Move, among other things. Smaller events such as PAX West/East Coast are a breath of fresh air, and should be promoted and encouraged. Will you be attending next year’s PAX East Coast?
