During today’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare multiplayer gameplay premiere, a fancy new edition of the game was announced with some pretty sweet bonuses packed in. Known as the “Dark Edition,” it includes a pair of working night vision goggles, an exclusive in-game tactical knife, and the previously announced “All Ghillied Up,” “Crew Expendable,” and “War Pig” Operator Packs, all for $199.99. This premium version of the game is available for preorder in the US exclusively at GameStop. For preorder information outside of the US, Activision has details on how to get your hands on it.
The night vision goggles allow the wearer to see over 60 feet in the dark using its “Long Range IR mode”, and include a “Day mode” which gives the user the ability to wear the goggles during the day. “Night mode” triggers automatically when in the dark, and the user can change the color palette of the night vision functionality from blue phosphorous to black and white, depending on their preference. The goggles also have eye width and distance adjustment knobs so you can get the fit just right, and a hinge that allows the goggles to flip up and down.
If you preorder the game from GameStop you will also receive some exclusive bonuses. The first of these additional goodies is a double-sided poster. The second is a Call of Duty Endowment Calling Card, to show your support for the troops. For each copy of the game sold, GameStop will donate money to the Call of Duty Endowment, which helps unemployed veterans find high-quality jobs. You can also purchase a PlayStation 4 dynamic theme which supports the Call of Duty Endowment as well.
