Dragon Ball Breakers Announced

Dragon Ball: The Breakers is an 8-Player Asymmetrical Multiplayer Game Heading to Consoles and PC Next Year

Bandai Namco and Dimps have announced a new game in the Dragon Ball franchise. Dragon Ball: The Breakers is an asymmetrical multiplayer title where seven Survivors attempt to escape the Temporal Seam while being hunted by a single powerful Raider. The Breakers will be heading to consoles and PC when it is released next year.

Seven citizens are caught up in a temporal phenomenon that leaves them stuck in the Temporal Seam. As if this wasn’t bad enough, they’re stuck in the Seam with a Raider, an overwhelmingly powerful enemy from another timeline. The Survivors can escape from the Seam using a Super Time Machine, but the Raider is constantly hunting them down. None of the Survivors will have superpowers and will have to use power-up items, weapons, and vehicles to look for the Time Machine and evade the Raider. Meanwhile, the Raider will take the form of Cell, Buu, or Frieza and will amass power as the match progresses.

Both raiders and survivors can be choose a progression path to follow, which will unlock items like perks and skins. Survivors will be able to completely customize their appearance in the Survivor character customization mode. Players will also earn credits for each match that can be spent on a range of cosmetic goods like skins and decorative equipment, and there will be “optional in-game purchases.”  Finally, players will be able to link up their Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 save file, although what benefits this will bring isn’t clear.

Bandai Namco Entertainment America’s Senior Director of Brand Marketing Lin Leng said:

The DRAGON BALL series has been a global fan favorite for over 37 years and DRAGON BALL: THE BREAKERS takes the classic over-the-top action formula and offers an innovative twist with its online survival gameplay. Both new players and long-time fans can expect an extremely fun and engaging experience; whether playing as a Raider hunting down fellow gamers or as a Survivor, playing cooperatively to team-up against an iconic rival.

Dragon Ball: The Breakers will arrive on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC at some point in 2022.
