PS5 Pro ‘Absolutely Rocks,’ Says No Man’s Sky Programmer

The PS5 Pro is set to enhance several games when it launches in November. One such game is No Man’s Sky. The console upgrade’s advanced ray tracing, larger GPU, and AI upscaling aims to provide the best way to explore Hello Games’ seemingly infinite universe. A programmer from the developer recently spoke positively about the console, saying it “absolutely rocks.”

In a recent post on X (formerly Twitter), No Man’s Sky engine programmer Martin Griffiths speaks positively about the PS5 Pro.

“This beautifully staged screenshot is a fair summary of how I feel tonight,” writes Griffiths remarking on a serene screenshot from No Man’s Sky. “Many of you have noticed that No Man’s Sky is now marked as a PS5 Pro enhanced title on the PlayStation store – the only thing I’d like to say as an engine programmer who has been through all the PS iterations since PS1, is that this console absolutely rocks.”

“There is something really special about the journey from working on prototype hardware to it becoming a real thing with the immense intellectual and human effort it takes from thousands of people to ship a console like this with more than 50 launch titles,” Griffith continues. “I’ve never lost that child like excitement I get when coding on a new dev-kit or that same excitement when the real console arrives at home and you boot-up a game you’ve worked on, for the first time.”

Griffiths is not the only developer glowing about the PS5 Pro. Major third party developers and publishers like Ubisoft, EA, and Remedy Entertainment shared their excitement about the mid-gen upgrade.

“With the power and new features of PS5 Pro, we had the opportunity to push visual settings and details even further: sharper and cleaner image quality thanks to PSSR, with more objects on-screen – decals, vegetation, crowds – all running at 60fps,” says Ubisoft Ivory Tower technical director Didier Blanché. “All combined, we think we’ve found the most intense way to experience the game.”

Currently, there are over 50 games confirmed to be PS5 Pro enhanced. Much of Sony’s first party PS5 games will feature a variety of enhancements that aims to bring the best console experience. Several third party games were also confirmed including Hogwarts Legacy, Lies of P, Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii, and Alan Wake 2.

PS5 Pro launches November 7, 2024, for $699.99.
