After months of teasing, Sony confirmed today that the PlayStation Now subscription will go live on January 13 in the United States and Canada for PlayStation 4 owners, allowing you to stream over 100 PlayStation 3 games for a fixed monthly cost.
When the PS Now subscription launches, a free seven-day trial will be provided to all new subscribers, then after that, it will cost $19.99 per month, with a three month package priced at $44.99.
Featuring games from publishers like Sony, Warner Bros, Bandai Namco, Sega, and more, here’s a look at some of the titles available on PS Now:
Don’t like the games available? Sony says, “We will be adding even more games over time,” with PlayStation 1 and PlayStation 2 games hopefully being added to the service down the road.
Phil Rosenberg, Senior Vice President of Business Development and Publisher Relations at Sony Computer Entertainment America talked about the subscription:
Users have been able to rent games through PlayStation Now for several months, and one of the top requests we get is for an overall subscription to the service. We’re excited to formally announce it today, as the PlayStation Now subscription service will deliver a ton of value by providing instant access to a large and diverse catalogue of games for one low price. We know there are lots of PS4 owners that never owned a PS3, and this is a great way to catch up on games they may have missed.

PlayStation Now provides the ability to stream PS3 games without game downloads, installs, or patches. Users can save their game progress on PlayStation Now proprietary cloud servers and seamlessly resume their progress on any PlayStation Now-enabled device. For instance, users can start playing a game through PlayStation Now on their PS4 system in their living room and continue playing on their PlayStation Vita handheld system in their bedroom. Users that have subscribed to PlayStation Now will also receive entitlements to access the games included with their subscription on other devices at no extra charge.
In the coming days, a free PS Now theme will be available to PS4 owners, and those who grab it before January 31 will be entered to win a one-year PS Now subscription.
As well, although it’s undated at the moment, the subscription is coming to “other PlayStation Now enabled devices” in the future.
If you’re wondering about Europe, PS Now is expected to arrive this year, though details at the moment remain vague.
