Horizon Forbidden West PS5 Upgrade

Horizon Forbidden West Free Next-Gen Upgrade Only Available in Digital Deluxe, Collector’s or Regalla Editions

Sony has opened preorders for Horizon Forbidden West and revealed the title’s many editions. As well as the standard edition, the game will come in four different versions: Special, Digital Deluxe, Collector’s, and Regalla. The catch is those wanting to grab a free upgrade from the PS4 to the PS5 version will need to shell out for the Digital Deluxe, Collector’s, or Regalla editions. The standard and Special Editions will not include access to both the PS4 and PS5 versions, and will only give you the version for the specific platform that you purchase.

Regardless of which edition you choose to preorder, you’ll receive the Nora Legacy Outfit and Spear to use in game. The standard edition is the only one available both digitally and at retail and runs $59.99 on PS4 and $69.99 on PS5.

Horizon Forbidden West Digital Deluxe Edition

Those looking to expand their digital library and are wanting extra content or the cross-gen entitlement will want to look into the Digital Deluxe Edition for $79.99. This includes:

  • Horizon Forbidden West (Digital) PS4 and PS5 versions
  • 2 Special Outfits (Carja Behemoth Elite and Nora Thunder Elite)
  • 2 Special Weapons (Carja Behemoth Short Bow and Nora Thunder Sling)
  • In-game Resources Pack including ammunition, potions, and travel packs
  • In-game Apex Clawstrider Machine Strike Piece
  • Exclusive Photo Mode pose and face paint

Players looking to get the game at retail have a few more limited edition options. The Special Edition will come with a SteelBook, digital soundtrack, mini art book, and a disc copy of the game for either PS4 or PS5. This will set you back $69.99 on PS4 or $79.99 on PS5.

Horizon Forbidden West PS5 Upgrade

Guerrilla Games reiterated the only way to get access to both the PS4 and PS5 editions of the game is to purchase the Digital Deluxe, Collector’s, or Regalla Editions of the game. The good news is that PS4 players will be able to transfer their saves to the PS5 version if they do choose to upgrade. Horizon Forbidden West releases on both platforms on February 18, 2022.
