PlayStation Now Likely Heading for New Zealand and Australia Soon

PlayStation Now is finally set to arrive in Australia and New Zealand, if a new PlayStation website promotion is to be believed. As spotted by PlayStation Universe, the New Zealand website now has an area dedicated to the subscription service, suggesting it may become available in the region fairly soon.

The full subscription service has been available in North America, Japan and Europe since 2015, with an open beta running for even longer than that. More countries were added to the list in 2019 and PlayStation Now is currently accessible in Canada, United States, Japan, and 16 European countries. It seems like PS Now is finally making inroads into the southern hemisphere a mere six years after its launch.

PlayStation Now is a subscription service that allows players access to over 700 games from the PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4. All of these games can be streamed to a player’s PS4 or PS5 console, although more than 300 PS2 and PS4 games can also be downloaded if players prefer. A recent update has enabled players to stream games in 1080p if they choose, rather than the previous 720p cap.

New games are added every month and the selection of games in the service is constantly changing. Some games are available permanently whilst others are only available for a limited period of time. The latest additions are Final Fantasy VII, Killing Floor 2, Windbound, Moonlighter, and Pathfinder: Kingmaker – Definitive Edition. More Final Fantasy games are due to be added to the service over the coming months. Unfortunately, Borderlands 3 will be removed at the end of the month on September 30. World War Z and The Witcher 3 left PlayStation Now last week.

How soon Australia and New Zealand will be able to make use of PlayStation Now is unknown, but Sony is unlikely to add a dedicated area to the website if it wasn’t coming soon. As usual, we’ll be sure to let you know as soon as we hear more.
