Horizon Forbidden West director Mathijs de Jonge has apparently told German website GamePro that the game is about as long as Horizon Zero Dawn.
As spotted by Twitter user ArcanaLegacy and shared on Reddit, GamePro said that it recently quizzed de Jonge about Forbidden West‘s length, to which he said that it’s on par with its predecessor but the sequel’s overall scope is bigger so those going in for 100 percent completion will be a little busier than before.
How long is Horizon Forbidden West?
From de Jonge’s comments, it seems like Forbidden West‘s main story can be beaten in roughly the same amount of time it takes to beat Zero Dawn while the rest varies. GamePro shared some stats from HowLongtoBeat, according to which the original game took about 22.5 hours to beat if you stuck to the main path. Those who beat the main story and delved a little bit into side activities spent an average of 44-47 hours in the game and those who went for 100 percent completion invested about 60 hours.
If I recall correctly, my Platinum trophy run took me over 50 hours but I also spent a lot of time taking photos and faffing about, so it all depends on how you play. But if you’re only in it for the story, you’re looking at around 20+ hours of game time.
Opinion: I hope Horizon Forbidden West is the same length as Zero Dawn
Zarmena writes… Whenever I read that a game takes “hundreds” of hours to complete, I immediately check out. If what GamePro is reporting is accurate, Forbidden West is the perfect length for everyone. Don’t have time? Stick to the story. Have a little bit of extra time? Do some extras. Want to spend a good amount of time in the game? Go for 100 percent completion. What’s there to complain about?
In other news, the next three Call of Duty games will reportedly release on the PS5 and Crysis 4 has been announced.
