PS Plus Classic Games separate purchase

Capcom and Bandai Namco PS1 Classic Games are Not Available Outside PS Plus

The new PS Plus Premium tier includes access to classic games, including those from the original PlayStation console. Some of those games are also available to buy separately for those who want to own them permanently or who don’t want to subscribe to the top Playstation Plus tier. Unfortunately, it seems like PS Plus classic games from Bandai Namco and Capcom won’t be available to purchase and can only be played through PS Plus.

PS Plus classic games that can’t be purchased separately

Mr Driller

Bandai Namco has two PS1 classics on the US games list — Tekken 2 and Mr. Driller — while Capcom has only released Resident Evil Director’s Cut so far. None of these games are currently available for separate purchase, as noticed by ResetEra, and can only be played by those who have subscribed to Playstation Plus Premium. Ironically, both Mr. Driller and Tekken 2 had been listed earlier at a price of $9,999, something that was clearly an error. While many expected them to be corrected to something more reasonable like $9.99, it seems like they weren’t supposed to be available for separate sale at all.

When the new PS Plus tiers were first announced, Sony did say that only some of the classic games would be available to purchase separately. There are rumors that the upcoming PSP release Ridge Racer 2 will also only be available through PS Plus, although we’ll have to wait for confirmation for that one. All of the other PlayStation titles can be bought without access to a PS Plus membership, including those from Disney, Oddworld Inhabitants, and Sony Interactive Entertainment themselves.

In other news, Fallout 5 will be Bethesda’s next game after The Elder Scrolls 6 but be prepared to wait a while to see it. Elsewhere, The Forgotten Saga will be a new rogue-lite mode coming to Assassin’s Creed Valhalla this summer.
