Capcom has confirmed that Resident Evil Village VR mode for PSVR 2 will be available when the headset launches on February 22, 2023, and it’ll be available as free DLC for existing game owners. The VR mode will be a separate download, and will be only available on the new system. PS4/PSVR 1 owners, unfortunately, will not get the DLC.
Resident Evil Village VR will make full use of the PSVR 2
Capcom has promised “the greatest level of immersion” as Resident Evil Village‘s VR mode is designed to fully harness the power of PSVR 2. From the description given on the PS Blog, it sounds like a tech showcase for the headset.
“Visually, the vivid graphics of the 4K HDR display (2000×2040 per eye) and eye tracking produces a heightened perception of reality as if everything you see is actually there,” Capcom wrote. “3D audio enhances the realism with audio from every angle, and your sense of touch is enhanced via the PlayStation VR2 Sense controllers. With one controller in each hand, you can feel the vibration, recoil, and resistance as you interact with objects in the world and fire weapons.”
PSVR 2’s Sense controllers will also enable various movements like holding arms up to guard, and wielding knives and slashing enemies.
