The upcoming PS5 7.00 update will reportedly implement full Discord integration as well as the ability to stream PS5 games. Support for Discord is a popular request from users, especially since Xbox players have enjoyed the feature for quite some time now. Streaming PS5 games is exciting, too, at least for those with the speeds for smooth playback.
Leaked PS5 7.00 system update patch notes
According to Insider Gaming, a site that is consistently reliable when reporting on leaks in the gaming industry, its sources state that the upcoming PS5 7.00 update will feature both full Discord implementation and support for streaming PS5 games.
The site’s sources state that a public beta for the 7.00 system update will begin “in the coming days,” with it ending on January 30. Apparently, the Discord functionality will not be active in the beta.
The PS5 7.00 firmware update is expected to launch on March 8, so there are still a couple of months to wait before all players can enjoy Discord and PS5 game streaming. Here’s hoping the beta goes well and doesn’t result in further delays.
Though a lot less exciting, the latest PS5 update (22.02-06.50.00) has been deployed to all systems. The main highlight is that it adds support for the new DualSense Edge controller.
