Some Hogwarts Legacy PS5 players are reporting that they are unable to start up the game with the PS5 firmware beta installed. Hogwarts Legacy doesn’t release until Friday, February 10th, but offered early access to those who pre-ordered the game’s Deluxe or Collector’s Edition.
How to fix Hogwarts Legacy PS5 beta start-up issues
Some unsuspecting players reverted the PS5 system software beta to get Hogwarts Legacy to start, but you don’t need to go through that! All players need to do is restore licenses. Apparently, this issue affects both the disc and digital versions of Hogwarts Legacy.
Here’s how players can restore game licenses on PS5:
- Go to Settings > Users and Accounts > Other > Restore Licenses.
Sony’s licensing system is a hot mess so we’re not surprised this issue cropped up. Those who are still fearful of the beta somehow bricking their console and messing up their library can revert to the current system version by following these steps:
- Go to Settings > System > System Software > System Software Update and Settings > Stop Using Beta Version.
Worth noting that no widespread issues have been reported with regards to the PS5 firmware beta. Additionally, the issue of Hogwarts Legacy not booting up precedes last night’s PSN outage that caused licensing issues.
