New PS5 gaming earphones are reportedly in development by Sony. Internally known as “Project Nomad,” the gaming earphones will go in-ear rather than over the ear, an option that results in both aesthetic and performance changes. With in-ear monitors trending in the world of PC gaming, especially when it comes to VR audio solutions, news of Sony focusing on earbuds isn’t a total surprise.
New PS5 gaming earphones reportedly launching before March 2024
According to a report by Insider Gaming, Sony is developing wireless gaming earphones to be used with the PS5. This is in addition to a new wireless headset. Both of these products are expected to launch between April 2023 and March 2024.
Speaking to Insider Gaming, unnamed sources allegedly said that the earphones fall under the codename “Project Nomad.” They apparently have a battery life of “around five hours” and will be supplied with a charging case that is recharged using a USB-C cable.
As for the new wireless headset, which is apparently codenamed “Voyager,” it’s understood that it will have similar functionality to the recently-released Sony Inzone H7 headset.
PS5 console hardware sales have started 2023 with a bang. The same can’t be said for Xbox.
Those new PS5 gaming earphones would no doubt work well with the upcoming PSVR 2 headset.
