UPDATE:
A gameplay trailer for Matterfall has been released during the Sony E3 press conference pre-show. Check it out above.
ORIGINAL STORY:
Sony’s E3 show starts in less than an hour but it looks like one of its possible announcements during the show has come out early as Matterfall, a game that was originally unveiled two years ago, was spotted on the PS store as available for pre-order with a release date set on August 15, 2017.
Here’s an overview of the game, via the PSN store:
Blast through explosive waves of contemporary arcade action in this rapid-fire twin stick shooter.
As a hero-for-hire, survive high-intensity side-scrolling war zones in vertical cities overrun by mysterious “smart matter”.
Weaponize alien tech to destroy enemies infected by deadly Red Matter – and control Blue Matter to manipulate the world and forge the path forward.
- Combat enemies with a variety of powerful, high-end weapons.
Perfect your performance in levels to rack up a higher score than your friends.- Witness awe-inspiring visuals as Matter flows, glows, and explodes around you.
- Created by arcade experts Housemarque – makers of RESOGUN and Alienation.
As previously mentioned, Matterfall will be available through the PS Store on August 25, 2017 for the PlayStation 4. Those who pre-order the game will receive PSN avatars, a Matterfall PS4 Theme, and the game’s soundtrack when it launches.
We’ll keep updating this post as new information becomes available. In the meantime, check out all our E3 coverage here.
